Encouraged by the 2024 European Capital of Culture initiative, Bodø presents, through its public activities, goals of renewal and progress
in a clear transition to a new social, cultural and environmental era.
The relationship between the natural environment of the city and its inhabitants is the starting point for the proposal.
Through different sensory layers, which immerse the observer in a new territory, a betrayal of the individual’s position with the local identity is presented. As an emotional rebirth, the intervention project proposes the use of sculpture as a tool to connect with Bodø’s past, present and future.
Ego-ex-centric, the modern ideology of constant progress human-centred justification of the work. A piece as a complex and timeless ode that defines the relationship between the human condition and its unexpected social reclassification, contradiction, antagonism and beauty. The sublime capital of progress and renewal.
The proposal sets out a narrative of change that opens doors to the
infinite layers of an untold story. The sculpture serves as an immersive, multidimensional platform for a meditative, vulnerable experience in which the deeply rooted relationship with the landscape is recognisable.
The artwork focuses on creating an intimate moment with the user,
who becomes an integral part of the sculpture through his own reflections and multiplications. This reality constantly raises doubts about the limits of the artwork, the natural space, the intervention, the reflection and even the absence of that same reflection. The effect is a provocation on how to (re)understand the multiple layers of which we are made as flesh.
This is an alternative dialectic that creates an emotional and expansionist experience between the sky and the earth, enhanced by the materials used: a reflective pavement, diametrically opposed to a sphere, also mirrored, which creates the discomfort of the infinite geometry of the
body in space. An elegant polished metal structure accompanied by the
3 elementary figures (square, circle and triangle) completes the sculpture. The tension between a natural existence and a human/artificial state is the sensory result given to the project.
