Portuguese Passport Redesign Contest

Studium’s proposal for the portuguese passport redesign is part of a public contest, open to everyone and submitted anonymously to INCM (Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda), the entity which prints and produces portuguese passports.

Portuguese Passport Redesign Contest

The contest briefing states that the proposal must designed under the motto “national territory”, opening up space for a visual interpretation which encompasses Portugal’s vast and diverse territory, both physical and emotional.
Physical and emotional — these two definitions create a complex and multidimensional perception of what territory means and what it means to be Portuguese.
By weaving the representation of a physical space with the characteristics of an emotional space, the proposal is then capable of representing Portugal as a collective of people united by common places and common experiences in a common time.
