O projeto consiste no desenvolvimento de um sistema de sinalética para a nova sede da Liga Portugal. Tendo como ponto de partida o projeto de arquitetura para o espaço, a proposta studium apresenta-se como um sistema simples, identificável e, acima de tudo, em total uníssono com o edifício, acrescentando-lhe novas camadas de comunicação.

São propostas três peças de sinalética base : o expositor vertical, a peça de parede e a placa de sala. Cada uma destas peças representa uma escala de intervenção, grande média e pequena.

O expositor vertical, de grande escala, é baseado no hexágono como motivo gráfico e conjuga diferentes tipos de transparência e cor para comunicar os espaços e identificar os pisos do edifício.

A peça de parede, de média escala, trabalha diferentes jogos de luz para comunicar, interagindo com o espaço em redor através de contrastes entre luz e sombra.

Por último, a placa de sala, de pequena escala,  identifica espaços concretos, sendo portanto a peça mais simplificada de todo o sistema.

A junção destes três elementos é essencial para a navegação no espaço e comunica uma narrativa fortemente apoiada no desenho do edifício, potenciando a experiência de qualquer visitante dentro do espaço.

2022 Event

Por ocasião do 10º aniversário do Porto Vascular Conference é desenvolvida uma nova imagem gráfica com um carácter disruptor e que, ainda assim, se mantém fortemente alicerçado nos princípios gráficos que caracterizam o PVC e que o tornam imediatamente reconhecível ano após ano.

Esta intervenção foca-se sobretudo numa reinterpretação do traço. Este elemento gráfico, utilizado anteriormente como um elemento utilitário e muitas vezes associado ao destaque de informações relevantes, é agora recontextualizado. A nova imagem gráfica do evento assume o traço azul como motivo principal. 

Assim, este interage com diferentes tipos de textura e inverte a dinâmica cromática do PVC. Enquanto que nas edições anteriores o vermelho era a cor principal, agora o azul ganha protagonismo, afirmando esta edição como um momento de diferença e de celebração.

Pela ocasião do 10º aniversário do evento foi também desenvolvido um livro comemorativo, que junta testemunhos e documentação dos eventos e da comunidade científica.

A direção de arte MASS foca-se sobretudo em dois aspetos principais: a comunicação de campanhas e a comunicação de mensagem de marca. Assim, todos os elementos estabelecidos para o toolkit da MASS Perfumarias são pensados para garantir uma comunicação versátil tanto a nível de mensagem como a nível de comunicação temática e de produto, garantindo clareza de discurso, dinamismo e reconhecimento através de todos os suportes temáticos.

Website

Redesign and restructuring of the SBN (Portugal’s Financial Workers’ Syndicate) website in order to improve the user experience.

The website redesign is especially focused on its structure. Through a hierarchical system, the entire information architecture is rethought and fine-tuned, in order to provide the best possible experience for beneficiaries. Along with this improvement there is the proposal of a new photographic art direction which complements the simple and elegant design of the website, stabilizing the graphic identity.
It’s through all these elements that the cohesion and homogeneity of all SBN graphic communication is ensured.

Interior Design

SPACV . 20th Anniversary Congress by studium . creative studio:

SPACV’s 20th Congress is, due to its special nature, the ideal moment for the introduction of a new art direction for the Society. Signalling the Society’s 20th Anniversary, it’s a unique moment in the timeline of its annual events.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Congress was postponed to 2021. In its place a webinar was held to mark the date. This forced the repositioning of the physical event, which was now admittedly the celebration of the Society’s 20th anniversary.
The SPACV’s 20th Anniversary Congress is assumed as a punctual and isolated moment in all editions of the Congress, marking a turning point, a new approach and the beginning of a new phase in the life of SPACV.
The graphic language is characterized by the balance between the new art direction proposal and the communication established by SPACV between 2017 and 2019, in order to ease the changes and accustom its members to a new image.
This balance leads to the opening of communicative possibilities, allowing the differentiation between institutional communication and specific communication of certain events.

2021 Catalogue

FRICON . 2021 Catalogue by studium . creative studio

FRICON is a company whose specialty is to create, develop, produce and commercialize of refrigeration and freezing equipment, ice cream freezers and beverage refrigerators.
The studium proposal involves the development of the product catalogs for 2021, using the previously designed 2020 catalog as the starting point.

The 2021 catalog follows the approach and art direction defined for the 2020 catalogue. The year 2021 also marks the 45th anniversary of FRICON, so that moment served as a motto for
a new interpretation of the catalog’s cover design, evolving the existing art direction. Light is the main argument for graphic communication and is explored from a figurative perspective and focused on the commemorative message.

The materialization of the commemoration is represented by the creation of an additional flap, an extension of the back cover, which, through folding and external fitting, guarantees a new level of interaction and reading not found in the previous version. This flap, when opened, reveals a section that allows the insertion of a commemorative text that marks the date and allows the reader a high level of immersion.

Concéntrico

studium’s participation in Concéntrico 08 is a double intervention in Quinta do Seixo and Viña Lanciano. A journey between two places and two eras is created through a monumental route that evokes classicism.

A reflection about contemporaneity, anchored on the perception of classic sins and virtues. A symbolic representation of moral principles through material and matter as substances of criticism. Wine and consumerism as both, conditions and deviations. A travel dispositif enabling a connection between present and past times. The metaphorical narrative about how in classic times wine was the way to escape reality and navigate madness, and how the popular cult of consumerism provides the same inebriant state to humanity.

The graphic identity, which evolves with the company’s values, is marked by its focus on the notion of speech and proximity to the customer. Through the emphasis on the name and the use of the speech bubble as a graphic motif, Olá Casa’s communication is open to a myriad of interpretations and materializations, from print communication to motion graphics. The design for the store space is marked by great flexibility, ensuring acoustic comfort, versatility in workstations, space segmentation and, at the same time, ensuring the space experience in a unified way.

In an existing building on a historic street of Porto, an opportunity arose to reverse a licensed project that compressed 05 houses in a small stone masonry envelope. The concept of the reconstruction proposed, allows the resurrection of typical social urban concepts of the city that are less common nowadays, presenting a revival of Porto’s anthropological roots, into a dynamic of coherent spaces, innovative and light.

POPKISS’ creation begins with a strong investment in branding, strategy and brand communication, solidifying the conceptual core of the project. The guarantee of formal and strategic coherence is the foundation of a brand that searches for universality, to be featured and ( why not ) a little fun!

The foundation of POPKISS’s graphic identity is a strong logotype, marked by an immediate reading and characteristic of a brand that wants to communicate with personality. It’s designed in black and white as a starting point, so that it can, later on, be absorbed by its hysteric and loud communication. What most characterizes the brand’s identity is that it’s fully based on POP culture, and, as such, it’s constantly evolving. It’s a brand that is not afraid of being loud, being spontaneous and communicating lower prices. The brand’s toolkit is mostly made out of key principles, that can change and adapt to any circumstance, always granting a cohesive communication in any medium. By creating the brand, its name, market positioning and communication system, studium has full control over how every all of the brand’s key points interact with each other, resulting in a solid communication from brand narrative to the graphic outcome of campaigns and overall communication. It is also another reflection of one of studium’s trends, stupopium, focused on studying the influence of POP culture within the studio’s work.

20th anniversary book

SPACV‘s 20th anniversary book by studium . creative studio

To mark SPACV’s 20th anniversary, we designed a compendium book of all the Society’s activities and those who were part of it.
The book, composed of 10 chapters (corresponding to the 10 mandates), is a record and memory of the evolution of SPACV since its foundation.

Being a unique book, of a commemorative nature, we sought to give it some distinction through its own format.
Taking into account the particularity of being mostly composed of images, we looked for a proportion that more closely resembles a photo album (usually square or horizontally oriented) than a standard book/magazine (A4 or A5).

A special book has to look like so from the first moment, from the first impression.
In this sense, we dedicate special attention to the cover and its finishes, to give it the distinct look the client desired. Other refinement finishes were also suggested, such as the addition of a ribbon or a marker with a commemorative message from the current SPACV president.

As a final note, the book is wrapped in golden paper that reveals a map of Portugal inside with all the Society’s Annual Congresses signalized. This second intention transforms a disposable object into a piece that can be framed.

The Terra Bona Nature & Vineyard is a family project that includes wine tourism (enotourism), experiences and wine production, located in the Laurisilva forest in Madeira. Focus on wine prodution, it assumes a commitment between production and environment.

Euroshop 2020

FRICON Euroshop 2020 – studium developed FRICON‘s stand for Euroshop 2020, with the intent of starting a new era for the brand’s communication.

The moment was chosen to present the new product line (CLS), a key piece that inspired a new approach to a fair’s stand.

A new catalogue was also designed, following the stand’s art direction.

studium proposed a radical approach to the stan by presenting only one featured product – the CLS line. All the other equipments were displayed on a vertical wall as a second, different, moment of exhibition.

The art direction, inspired by the northern lights (aurora borealis), affected not only the development of the stand and its cenography, with the play on lights and membrane, but also in the catalogue design.

studium . is the creative studio focused on interpolation of areas such as architecture, communication design and product. Based in Porto, it is a space with a strong creative and authorial component. It is home for Sérgio Miguel Magalhães, one of the most prominent minds of our time, with multiple and original projects in architecture, graphic design, web design, product design, photography and literature. Sérgio is also an avid structuralist, constantly evolving his unifying and specific form of creative content creation which he calls the Methodological System.

Architects and designers aligned by a methodology and disciplined practice, highly competent in an environment characterized by its constant criticism of traditional models of design.

These two studium arms are specialized development vehicles related to the criticism of each project and the content creation ecosystem. This way we provide a complete notion of communication and creative production systems. A complete process, an ecosystem that unifies strategy, criticism and result.
