Restaurant

DOMODOMO is a Japanese restaurant located in the centre of Porto. The studium’s project goes through the conceptualisation and design of the space, focusing on functional systems and consumption policies.

One of the main concepts of this project is the creation of different structural, functional and material elements that guarantee a uniform and coherent reading of the space, the exponentiation of the quality of the experience (provided by the spatial environment), the curiosity of the customer and the appropriation of the different policies of permanence and consumption (lunch/dinner).

Through a set of standardisation criteria, basic elements are identified, indisputably as DOMODOMO

Unifying space means maximising the functionality of its spatial elements, as is the case in Japanese culture. Different functions are proposed from the same basic element, reducing the number of variables and ensuring uniformity and clarity in the perception of the space as a whole.

is a project by studium . creative studio, the result of a selection and ambition of a multidisciplinary and complementary team, dedicated to the development of architecture, communication design and product design projects. Focused on the process and its irrefutability, studium is guided by its mojo, an assertive blend of rigorous vision, passion and oddity, a mojo that defines the way we design a career in the studio. Architects and designers aligned by a methodology and disciplined practice, known as Methodological System, in an environment characterised by a constant critic of the models of developing project.

studium is related with two other complementary entities, intrinsically linked to the interpolated vision of the creative practice:

AMMP – brand and management agency
and
PTMade – production house

These two arms are specialised development paths, related to the critique of each project and the content creation ecosystem. This way, we provide a complete approach to the communication and creative production systems. This is an ecosystem that unifies strategy, criticism and results.

Retreat House . Baião

The Retreat House is an architectural project of a single-family house designed for land on the outskirts of Baião, in a rural area. This site is characterised by the presence of agricultural activity, by several slopes and terraces.

The project was designed to be inhabited by a couple and so that, in the future, it can be converted into a local accommodation of rural tourism.
It has the specificity of integrate natural elements in the project’s concept and kept having a large part of the tree landscape.

Furthermore, a notable point of this project is the different dynamics of space design – recreational spaces, associated with housing – technical spaces associated with agricultural production; and spaces of interaction between the two spaces and associated paths.

SPACV . 20th Anniversary Congress by studium . creative studio:

SPACV’s 20th Congress is, due to its special nature, the ideal moment for the introduction of a new art direction for the Society. Signalling the Society’s 20th Anniversary, it’s a unique moment in the timeline of its annual events.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Congress was postponed to 2021. In its place a webinar was held to mark the date. This forced the repositioning of the physical event, which was now admittedly the celebration of the Society’s 20th anniversary.
The SPACV’s 20th Anniversary Congress is assumed as a punctual and isolated moment in all editions of the Congress, marking a turning point, a new approach and the beginning of a new phase in the life of SPACV.
The graphic language is characterized by the balance between the new art direction proposal and the communication established by SPACV between 2017 and 2019, in order to ease the changes and accustom its members to a new image.
This balance leads to the opening of communicative possibilities, allowing the differentiation between institutional communication and specific communication of certain events.

SPACV . 20th Anniversary Congress is a project by studium . creative studio, the result of a selection and ambition of a multidisciplinary and complementary team, dedicated to the development of architecture, communication design and product design projects. Ceuta 116

This project reflects the study of maximum occupancy of a fraction reserved for a company using existing accesses without the need for structural interventions. Good natural lighting through the glass facade allowed the distribution of work areas by its proximity

Based on the studium experience, a program was defined to this site. The proposed program is adapted to the specific reality of the place and its architectural constraints and is structured in 03 macro groups with the following areas

work
open space area dedicated to workstations. In this space there are 03 types of workstations – fixed workstation; open workstation for temporary appropriation, similar to the concept of co-working; transitional workstations. There are also other areas directly related or complementary to the workstations, such as meeting rooms, print centers, hot desks, etc.

support
mostly technical areas and dedicated to the basic conditions of employees

social
areas that promote the well-being of employees, from breaks, meals, sharing, and all daily activities that increase the quality of the workspace

House in Lavra

studium project of planning for the construction of a single-family house with 03 rooms located in Lavra, Matosinhos, next to Pedras Brancas beach.

On the ground floor, the natural elements are echoed in the house’s 04 structural pillars:

fire: fireplace function
Concrete column with a small percentage of red pigmentation representing the liveliness and glow of the element evoked;

air: exhaust function
Represented by the partial absence of material, a high elevation where part of the pillar does not touch the floor and where fumes and smells from the kitchen will be extracted;

water: peep and fridge function
Volume with softened edges to symbolise the smoothness of water and allude to the erosion caused by the element;

earth: structural column function
The only pillar without an accessory function, it stands out for this very reason and for its ability to transfer forces into the ground, ensuring its connection to the Earth as a symbol of the 04 elements.

Euroshop 2020

FRICON Euroshop 2020 – studium developed FRICON‘s stand for Euroshop 2020, with the intent of starting a new era for the brand’s communication.

The moment was chosen to present the new product line (CLS), a key piece that inspired a new approach to a fair’s stand.

A new catalogue was also designed, following the stand’s art direction.

studium proposed a radical approach to the stan by presenting only one featured product – the CLS line. All the other equipments were displayed on a vertical wall as a second, different, moment of exhibition.

The art direction, inspired by the northern lights (aurora borealis), affected not only the development of the stand and its cenography, with the play on lights and membrane, but also in the catalogue design.

studium . is the creative studio focused on interpolation of areas such as architecture, communication design and product. Based in Porto, it is a space with a strong creative and authorial component. It is home for Sérgio Miguel Magalhães, one of the most prominent minds of our time, with multiple and original projects in architecture, graphic design, web design, product design, photography and literature. Sérgio is also an avid structuralist, constantly evolving his unifying and specific form of creative content creation which he calls the Methodological System.

studium results of a selection and ambition of a professional multidisciplinary and complementar team that dedicates itself to the development of projects focused an assertive blend of rigorous vision, passion and oddity mojo. Architects and designers aligned by a methodology and disciplined practice, highly competent in an environment characterized by its constant criticism of traditional models of design.

studium generated the basis for two complementary projects, intrinsically linked to the interpolated vision of the creative practice :

AMMP – brand and management agency
and
PTMade – production house

These two studium arms are specialized development vehicles related to the criticism of each project and the content creation ecosystem. This way we provide a complete notion of communication and creative production systems. A complete process, an ecosystem that unifies strategy, criticism and result.
